Money Honey!
Have you ever done anything without expecting anything in return? If yes, then I should say that you are blessed! There are not many people who do something without expecting anything in return. Money has become the prime source of making people avoid generosity. There are very few generous people left in this world. If somebody does not pay you money for your work, that work is considered as a waste of time.
I am sure whoever has done some work for free for somebody else; they would have experienced a strange kind of satisfaction and happiness. I am not saying that people should stop going on job or stop asking salary for that. Nope, not at all! Believe me, I am not Mother Teresa. Though I wish I could be like her. The heart she had was amazing. People don’t love their family, relatives let alone the strangers. Mother Teresa didn’t just give love to the strangers but accepted them as they were. Anyways, I wouldn’t do my job if they did not give me money. I am just saying that feel the happiness of doing volunteer service in your spare time. It gives you immense happiness and satisfaction. I was lucky enough to feel that. I just wanted to pass this message on that someone who is really looking for internal satisfaction and never-ending happiness should try serving somebody unconditionally.
For doing volunteer service, you need not join any NGOs or something. You can just go and plant trees or donate blood. Believe me, I have done it. In fact, I had planted trees where dead bodies were buried. I had plant some 5-6 trees. It was initially spooky but then I had fun. It gave me such an immense pleasure and satisfaction. I had in some way contributed to the environment. Donating blood is the other good act that you do selflessly. These are small deeds which would make you happy.
The next level could be paying some poor child’s school fees, buying new books for them, donating your old novels to them. The satisfaction that you get from this thing is difficult to express in words. The result of your deed would be in front of you! You could actually see a child getting a good education and turning into a good responsible citizen.
These deeds do not require great courage but just willingness. There are many people who use their entire salary on themselves and pay their credit cards debts and EMIs and say that they don’t have sufficient salary. People who have gone through this emotion I would specially recommend them to try the above steps. Give at least 5% of your salary to somebody needy. And by needy I don’t mean a beggar. By needy I mean a person who is ready to stand on his feet or change his lifestyle but needs a nudge. Follow the golden rule: “God helps those who help themselves”. Help them who are ready to help themselves. Have the heart to let go your few hard earned money on somebody else. Have the guts to change somebody else’s lifestyle by sacrificing some luxury of yours because the truth is: money is the honey of your life but when you use it all on yourself it does taste sweet but when you spread this money across the sweetness is not only felt but also absorbed in your soul!
P.S.: If you don’t find enough guts to chip out some money from your salary, here’s what you can do. Try throwing 100Rs from your wallet on the streets and walk away. If you come back within 5 minutes to collect your money, you need practice :) (Just kidding, for people who don’t know my senses of humors ;))
Hey Khairu very impressive post there...Keep it up!
